Looking for a sick summer casual job? Good for you! But we know how daunting it can be putting a resume together, so here’s what you need to avoid at all costs.
A survey of over 450 hiring managers showed that 68 per cent had rejected a job applicant after discovering that they had included “dishonest or exaggerated information” on their application.
Andrew Morris, director of Robert Half Australia, told news.com.au:
“Transparency and honesty during the application and interview process are critical for candidates who want to be considered for a job. Many businesses take background checks very seriously, which is made even easier thanks to increased online transparency and social media.”
So basically if you lie, there’s a V good chance that you’re gonna get caught and you can kiss the job goodbye!
Morris adds: “Once untruthfulness has been discovered, candidates’ professional credibility has been damaged, and their chances of landing the job will be very slim to none, even though they might be ideal for the role.”
The survey also revealed that 60 per cent of managers had caught applicants lying about their previous job experience which is a big no no, especially ‘coz they’ll probz wanna call up for a reference?
And lastly, 48 per cent of managers said they wouldn’t interview anyone who was withholding info about their education or qualifications.
The moral of this story?
NEVER lie on your resume ‘coz:
