Opera Australia announces casting call for dogs

Does your dog have what it takes?

Does your pooch have what it takes to be a star?

Opera Australia is looking for an adorable dog to feature in its production of La Bohème in Sydney.

“Opera Australia is casting dogs to appear in its new production of La Bohème at Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour,” the website explains. “At each of the 26 performances, one dog will make a brief appearance walking across the stage, led by a cast member. All small to medium-size dogs will be considered, but as La Bohème is set in Paris, poodles, poodle-crosses, and French bulldogs are preferred.”

The ideal dog would need to be small to medium in size, well behaved, okay with bright lights and not easily distracted by big crowds.

“You will be responsible for looking after your dog in this environment. The dogs will also need to be healthy, so they can cross a floating walkway and climb steps on stage,” the add continues.
