While there’s absolutely no denying that the supermodel and reality star was blessed with good genetics, her approach to both nutrition and fitness is proof that Jenner consciously balances her life to stay healthy and happy.

Kendall is more interested in eating whole foods than using any gimmicks, strange diets, ‘superfoods’ or obscure workouts.

If her Instagram is anything to go by the star seems comfortable in her own skin.

Movement: A combination of strength and cardio

Kendall Jenner’s workouts are led by renowned Hollywood personal trainer Gunnar Peterson, who takes the model through workouts comprised of both strength training and cardio, with an emphasis on core workouts.

“I prefer to work out in the morning,” Jenner revealed in a 2016 interview with Harper’s BAZAAR U.S..

“To stay toned, I do a lot of ab work with my trainer, Gunnar Peterson, and occasionally I’ll take a kickboxing class.”

In the lead-up to fashion shows, Jenner amps up her usual workouts. We wonder if she did the same for her recent appearance at the Met Gala?

Peterson, who has previously trained Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Lopez and Sofia Vergara, revealed that while Jenner is athletically built thanks to her Olympian parent Caitlyn Jenner, she works hard to maintain her physique.

“People will find it hard to believe, that girl squats, dead-lifts and does pull-ups,” he told Us Weekly in 2016.

The fitness guru also said the supermodel did “a lot of sled-pushing, a lot of lateral banded work, up and down the track, and a lot of very high-intensity cardio intervals” and that she would do some form of exercise “almost every day.”

It is important to remember that models are required to over-work themselves in preparations for fashion shows, especially for the now-cancelled Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

The extreme workouts in the lead up to those events are not required and do not reflect the everyday life of these models.

Although strength training is important for woman, it is not recommended teenagers incorporate an intense weight lifting routine with their cardio.

Stanford’s Children’s Health reports, “Before a teen embarks on a weight-training program, he or she should get a physical exam.

Once the doctor has given the OK to begin, find a weight-training instructor who understands the special needs of adolescents. Because the skeleton isn’t mature until the early 20’s, too much weight can stress the joints and ligaments and may separate growth plates or damage joints in other ways.”

Clearly, from her trainers reports Kendall certainly puts herself through the paces, but surprisingly, Jenner isn’t really a fan of heart-pumping workouts.

“I hate cardio,” she told The Thirty. “I’d rather just stand there and lift some weights than run in place. But I’ll do it!”

Fitness: At-home workouts to tone her abs

When training with Peterson is not an option, Kendall reportedly swaps the gym for an at-home workout.

The model shared her go-to 11-minute ab workout to her now-defunct app in 2018, showcasing a circuit-style session comprised of bodyweight moves.

Jenner’s at-home ab workout is as follows:

Step 1. Forearm plank, 30 seconds.
Step 2. High plank, 30 seconds.
Step 3. Side plank, 15 seconds.
Step 4. Side plank with crunch, 5 reps each side.
Step 5. Alternating arm/leg plank, 15 seconds.
Step 6. Rocking plank, 15 seconds.
Step 7. Knee-to-elbow plank, 5 reps on each side.
Step 8. Standard crunch, 20 reps.
Step 9. Bicycle crunch, 30 seconds.
Step 10. Vertical crunch, 20 seconds.
Step 11. Frog crunch, 15 reps.
Step 12. Twisted crunch, 15 reps.
Step 13. Leg lifts, 15 on each leg.

Nutrition: Lean proteins with lots of fruits and vegetables (and Pasta)

Jenner’s daily meals typically consist of lean proteins with plenty of fruit and vegetables.

Jenner’s standard day on a plate is reportedly as follows:

  • BreakfastAvocado over eggs and a big bowl of oatmeal.
  • Lunch—Lean chicken with brown rice.
  • Snacks—Raw vegetables with dip and hummus.
  • Dinner—Sushi, vegan spaghetti Bolognese or Margherita pizza.

It is important to recognise that teenage girls need to eat more than women because of all the growing that happens during those ages, and according to SF Gate Healthy Eating, “Most teens need more calories than adults because they are still growing, have a higher metabolism and are more active.”

So, do not feel guilty for needing to eat more carbs than Kendall, especially because there is nothing wrong with carbs – they are still super important for creating energy!

As for Kendall, the dish that she could eat anytime? That would be pasta.

“I don’t cook that much besides my standard eggs, avocado and toast breakfast, but when I do, I have a few super simple recipes that I consider my ‘specialties’,” the reality star wrote in a post on her app titled The Dish I Cook for Dinner Better Than Anyone Else in 2017 (quote via People).

Listening to cravings

As part of her balanced diet, Kendall also allows herself food she craves, and even shared her dressing room favourites with her fans via her app in 2016.

“Here’s what will forever and always make my list: Twix, Justin’s Peanut Butter, chips and guac, and hummus and carrots. See, pretty simple—just feed me and I’m ready to go!” she wrote (quote via The Thirty).

The supermodel also told The Thirty that she loves “everything unhealthy. Pizza, fried chicken—everything.”

In her 2016 conversation with Harper’s BAZAAR U.S., Jenner spoke about her love for frozen yoghurt.

“I’m also obsessed with frozen yoghurt,” she said. “I could eat it every day, but I aim for twice a week. I usually get the classic tart flavor from Go Greek.”

Even her elder sister Khloé Kardashian has previously weighed in on Kendall’s penchant for sweets, writing on her app: “People always find it funny that Kenny… loves burgers and pizza and goes to In-N-Out all the time.”

Wellness: transcendental meditation, sleep, and time spent with friends

Self-care forms a significant part of the model’s overall wellness routine. Kendall has previously spoken about struggling with debilitating anxiety, and how regularly doing transcendental meditation has helped to improve her mental health.

“I kept hearing about meditating and was sceptical about it, but decided [to] just do it,” she told Allure while discussing self-care in 2019.

“So I sat down for four days with a teacher and learned TM (Transcendental Meditation) and really dove into it, and I started to see such a difference in my mental health.”

Along with TM, Jenner makes sure she gets enough sleep to make sure she functions at her best.

“I have to sleep at least seven to eight hours to be fully awake for the next day, so I try to get to bed as soon as I can. I’ve trained myself to fall asleep anywhere possible, in the car or on a flight,” she told Harper’s BAZAAR U.S. in 2016.

She also told the outlet that having good friends who she sees regularly also help her to feel positive and “inspired”.

“I always make sure to have one or two nights a week out with friends, where I’ll get dressed up for dinner and be social,” she said.

“I think part of staying inspired and happy really comes from surrounding yourself with the right energy. Thankfully, I have friends who lift me up and help push me. We’re all going through these changes in our careers together.”
