The New Instagram Feature That’s Guaranteed to Improve Your Mental Health

We 10/10 approve of this.

Instagram’s just announced a bunch of new features, and it’s fair to say they’re our faves to date.

Via the social networking platform’s blog, founder and CEO Kevin Systrom revealed they would be implementing a filter that automatically blocks offensive comments in an effort to thwart trolls and put an end to cyberbullying. Users will also be able to control who can and can’t reply to their posts.

They’ve also added a mental health resource that gives ‘grammers the option to initiate a live video with a helpline volunteer whenever they’re in need of some extra help.

“Now, when people see someone going through a difficult time or in need of support during a live broadcast, they can anonymously report it,” Systrom explains.

“The person will see a message offering help with options to talk to a helpline, reach out to a friend or get other tips and support.”

Systrom says that Instagram has, “teams working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, around the world to respond” and that they aim to “build a community where everyone feels safe to be themselves without criticism or harassment.”

But it gets better.

‘Kindness stickers’ are now available in the app’s story section to make it that lil bit easier to spread the love.

Needless to say, we dig it.
