It can feel a bit like living a secret, being a savoury-lover in a sweet-tooth’s world. This is especially true around Easter as the teetering towers of chocolate eggs glare down from every corner of every store – in some cases since January.
For those savoury fans, this Easter creation is for you: the cheese Easter egg. No yolk.
Named the Cheester Egg (10 points to Brie-ffindor for that pun), the box contains a half-egg shaped cheese, with the other half containing mini oatcakes crackers and some caramelised onion chutney.
It basically contains everything you need to make an egg-cellent (not sorry) nibble platter! Though, low key, we could have gone an entire egg of cheese. Save the crackers – they’re just edible plates anyway.
Developed in a collaboration between Asda and Blacksticks, the cheese Easter egg was inevitable, says Asda’s Head of Cheese (give me that job), Jo Miller.
‘Following the incredible response to our Christmas cheese advent calendar, the Cheester Egg was the obvious next step,’ she said.
And probably because we just finished bragging about how the McDonald’s Big Brekkie burger is only available in Australia, sadly this creation will be only available in the UK.
