Kendall Jenner will probably never escape that fateful Pepsi ad.
It was verrrry damaging to her at the time, and the brand… but what was worse about the whole thing was that Kendall went into hiding and didn’t apologise for it.
The backlash was extreme, and the campaign was immediately pulled after it was deemed as tone-deaf to police brutality, Black Lives Matter and political unrest.
Now, in a new oral history of the show with The Hollywood Reporter, Kim Kardashian has revealed why she went so silent on the matter.
“We’re not perfect, but you see these things in the media, like Kendall and [her Pepsi ad], where I see her at home crying,” Kim said.
“But in the media she looks another way because she’s not addressing it. I’m just like, ‘This is wrong. You need to speak up.’ She was like, ‘I don’t ever want to show that footage of me crying.’ She was trying not to make excuses or be dramatic, but that was what she was going through at the time.”
So, because Kendall didn’t want to be shown crying, she couldn’t apologise? Hm. We don’t think people are going to buy into that one TBH.
Kendall also added, “I’m the most private one. If there’s a moment I don’t want anyone to hear, I talk to myself or talk to someone in another room.”
Le sigh.
