Shane Dawson has officially finished his controversial Jake Paul series on YouTube, and while he is extremely relieved that it’s over, he’s still copping a lot of backlash for it.
After Shane tweeted his thanks to the fans for all their support, one fan tweeted back, “STOP GIVING RACISTS A PLATFORM”.
Well, Shane wasn’t having it. At all.
Replying to the fan, he wrote, “I just posted hours and hours and hours of content this month FOR FREE Literally F*CK OFF”.
After his reply, a heated exchange followed. The fan responded telling him that she has been a huge fan of his since 2007, but doesn’t agree with his Jake Paul series. “Ur making excuses and making people feel sympathy for someone who is RACIST. WHY.”
“you don’t know anyone’s heart,” Shane replied. “and if you’ve been watching me since 2007 then you would now why i’m so passionate about helping people grow and change. i wish someone like me would have reached out to me back when i was making mistakes.”
At the end of the day, Shane explained why he was so heated. “i haven’t slept for 40 hours because i’ve been editing an hour and 45 minute video that i put everything into. so that’s why i’m heated. also, you don’t even follow me. why would i assume you are a ‘fan’?”
Yikes.
Whether you agree with Shane’s decision to document Jake’s life and give him this ‘platform’, or not, one thing we can all agree on is that the series was highly entertaining, and Shane put his entire soul into it.
That in itself deserves some respect.
