Katherine Langford has revealed that she never planned to make her Instagram public until a pretty special person convinced her otherwise.
The Aussie actress—who plays Hannah Baker on THE Netflix show of the year, 13 Reasons Why— is quite new to the spotlight so understandably, she wanted to keep some privacy in her life.
But it was Executive Producer (and the KWEEN of Insta) Selena Gomez who made Katherine realise that social media is the best way to connect with fans who relate to her character’s tragic struggles, especially since the show is spreading awareness of some very sensitive and important issues among young people.
“It was a bit of a big decision for me actually, because I wanted to be an actor purely for the acting work. I have never been attracted to increasing my popularity or hireability by being on Instagram,” she dished to The Last Magazine.
“Selena pointed out that the show is targeting young adults like me and that [social media] is a good medium to talk directly with those who relate to my character, Hannah.”
So she took Sel’s advice and went public!
The caption of her very first public post (above) reads:

Nawwww!!! Since then she’s shared posts with fellow 13 Reasons Why star Dylan Minnette and Sel and we can’t wait to see what else she shares from now on!
