Millie Bobby Brown has turned 16, but she’s celebrating with a confronting video of how she has been incredibly sexualised over the years.
WATCH: Millie Bobby Brown opens up about being ‘sexualised’ at 16
“16 has felt like a long time coming. I feel like change needs to happen for not only this generation but the next. Our world needs kindness and support in order for us children to grow and succeed. the last few years haven’t been easy, I’ll admit that,” she wrote.
“There are moments I get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualisation, and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and insecurity for me. but not ever will I be defeated. I’ll continue doing what I love and spreading the message in order to make change.”
“Let’s focus on what needs changing and I hope this video informs you on the things that go on behind the scenes of the headlines and flashing lights,” she continued. “Don’t worry I’ll always find a way to smile 😉 leggo 16 ♡.”
The star included old headlines that said: “Millie Bobby Brown CRITISISED for adult style!” and “When did Millie Bobby Brown go through the change??? (Menopause)”
Ouch!
We’re happy to see the star using social media for good, like she said she would when she spoke to Seventeen recently.
“Our generation in particular has so much power to use social media to create positive change in the world. My great hope is that people will use their platforms to spread kindness and positivity with one another, rather than using social media as a platform to bring one another down,” she told the publication.
The star has been heavily criticised for years over how she dresses, continuously receiving backlash for acting tool old for her age.
Most recently, Millie was slammed for her SAG Awards outfit.
Hopefully, people start to lay off the actress now that she’s getting older.
