Don’t worry, it’s not “Party in the USA”… but it’s just as bad.
Miley Cyrus is being sued for allegedly stealing her hit song, “We Can’t Stop” and we’re heartbroken.
Jamaican musician Michael May aka Flourgon is suing Miley and Sony Music for $300 MILLION dollarydoos because he claims the tune is a rip off of one of his songs, “We Run Things” which came out in 1988.
The lawsuit claims that Miley stole his “unique and creative lyrical phraseology in order to establish an overarching and pervasive theme… in the realm of self-discovery and self-governings,” reports TMZ.
Flourgon’s song has the lyrics: “We run things/Things no run we,” while Miley sings, “We run things/Things don’t run we.”
Yikes.

He is also claiming that her single “owes the basis of its chart-topping popularity and its highly-lucrative success to plaintiff May’s protected, unique, creative and original content.”
In November 2017, he won “formal copyright protection” for all musical arrangements in “We Run Things” after seeing help from the U.S. Copyright Office.
He is also requesting that all sales, distribution and performances of “We Can’t Stop” are halted until the case is settled, and he’s filed a complaint with the U.S. District Court in Manhattan to ensure that.
Miley has yet to respond to the allegations.
