Stan Lee, the absolute legend behind all things Marvel, has just had an inspired idea.
He wants to send some of his prodigies, including Doctor Strange and the X-Men… to Hogwarts!
Stan took to his Twitter account to tweet the brains behind Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling – suggesting that the Marvel Universe and HP should combine powers.
“Hey @jk_rowling if you ever want me to send Doctor Strange & The X-Men to Hogwarts to teach a few classes, just let me know,” he tweeted. “I think they could also hold down the fort against Voldemort.”
Yeah… that’s definitely something we could get around.
And it might seem odd at first. Hell, we’re sure there are fans reading this right now shaking their heads at how ridiculous this would be… but there are actually quite a few parallels between the two universes that makes this idea totally worthwhile.
Obviously, there’s Doctor Strange, who actually happens to be a wizard. If there’s anyone who could bring an end to the curse against Defence Against The Dark Arts professors, it’s him.
As for X-Men, fans have actually been noting for years how similar they are to the Harry Potter world. Some have even gone as far as saying Harry Potter has ripped the X-Men off.
Hogwarts is a school for young people who have a gift. They go to school to learn how to control and use these skills, mostly for the better. Of course, there’s Voldemort who tries to royally F this up.
Now think of X-Men. There’s Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, where the young mutated who are born with powers go to peacefully control their gifts. They’re under the guidance of Professor X – who we can say is quite similar to Dumbledore.
Anyway, enough of that. Right now, it’s just a thought in Stan’s magnificent brain.
But if he and J.K. Rowling could put those wonderful minds together and create a Marvel X Hogwarts super-movie, that’d be great.
