It’s the one thing that will turn viewers against any Married At First Sight contestant: when it’s uncovered that they are a paid actor/actress.
This is what happened for Cathy Evans, after an ‘anonymous’ tipper leaked that information, along with the fact that Cathy is close friends with a casting producer on the show, which is why she got on.

Now, Cathy herself has admitted that it was her ex-TV-husband Josh Pihlak who was leaking the information that she claims to be false.
“What is completely absurd about this comment is that it is absolutely untrue. My best friend Megan is not a casting producer for MAFS,” the furious makeup artist told AB & Ben from Coffs Coast’s HIT105.5.
“She has no persuasion on the editing or how they choose the cast members. She was a runner for the show. I was quite shocked that this article was written about us and I knew who had come up with this information… It was my ex-husband. He leaked it.”

It’s information that Josh’s family, including his mother Mandy, has been pushing on social media. Just last week she replied to a post Josh put on Facebook defending his actions, calling Cathy an “Actress from hell.”
Another family commented: “We did well to keep our gobs shut until now! Cathy is playing a victim! The tears, definitely trying to get on Home and Away. She’s playing her role well, sort of.”
“She was a paid actress hunny, employed by producers,” Mandy added.
Cathy has been incredibly hurt by the accusations but had admitted to Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny: “Where’s my paycheck then?” when they asked if there was any truth to the actress comments.
“How can you say that? It’s not a good look and it really just confirms that how she was in person is the same as she is online,” she said of Josh’s mum.
She continued: “If you can bully me in person and make me feel very intimidated and threatened by you when you’re sitting right in front of me… She’s only confirming that she’s really like that by being so callous and rude online. You’re not doing yourself any favours.”
Well, actress or not Cathy doesn’t need that paycheck because she has been making some serious bank with her Instagram posts!!!!
