In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein mess, many women have been coming forward to share their stories with sexual assault.
The likes of Cara Delevingne, Emily Osment, Blake Lively, Lili Reinhart and now Jennifer Lawrence all have bravely opened up.
At the 2017 ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards, Jen opened up about a “humiliating” and “degrading” experience she had early on in her career.
She said, “When I was much younger and starting out, I was told by producers of a film to lose 15 pounds in two weeks.”
She even noted that another actress had been fired for not losing the weight quick enough, so she felt the pressure even more at that point.
“During this time, a female producer had me do a nude line-up with about five women who were much, much, thinner than me. We stood side-by-side with only tape covering our privates.”
“After that degrading and humiliating line-up, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as inspiration for my diet,” Jen said.
Wow.
It even got worse from there. She claimed that she tried to stand up for herself, telling another male producer what was happening.
“He said he didn’t know why everyone thought I was so fat,” she said. “He thought I was ‘perfectly f***able.’”
Disgusting.
It’s not the first time Jennifer has spoken out since the Harvey Weinstein news broke, releasing a statement saying, “I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behaviour. I worked with Harvey five years ago [on Silver Linings Playbook] and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting.”
“My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions,” she added. “And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward.”
