Instagram has just released a new app called ‘Threads’ so you can have your own mini Instagram page just for your mates, and it looks lit.
We can already create groups on Insta and share direct messages, but now you can send your nearest and dearest video and photo updates throughout the day in your ‘Threads’, so say goodbye to doing any work because this is just a recipe for procrastination.

So how does it work?
‘Threads’ is a standalone app, and according to the good people over at Instagram, is designed to help you “share photos, videos, messages, Stories, and more with your Instagram close friends list.”
So what’s the difference between the ‘Close Friend’ option and ‘Threads’
In ‘Threads’ you’ll have dedicated notifications and inbox for your crew.
See a cute AF puppy that you have to share with your BFF? Go into Threads and tap on your friend’s name and then Threads will open up your camera straight away and allow you to capture then send.
So simple, yet so brilliant.
Threads will also allow you to create ‘status updates’, so your friends know if you’re down for a convo or if you’ve engaged full study mode.
Instagram explains: “You can choose from a suggested status (📚 Studying), create your own (😅 Procrastinating), or turn on Auto Status (🚗 On the move), which automatically shares little bits of context on where you are without giving away your coordinates.
“Only the people you select as your close friends will see your status, and it’s completely opt-in. Status was created with your privacy in mind – you control whether you share your status and with whom.”
It’s a whole new world out there friends.
