Are you even a TikTok star if you don’t live in a mansion with a bunch of other content creators?
More and more of these TikTok incubator houses have been popping up lately, becoming a melting pot for anyone who’s anyone on the platform.
Obvs, first, there was the Hype House, home of some of our faves like the D’Amelio twins and Addison Rae.
Not long after that came their competitor, LA collective the Sway House — feat. people like Bryce Hall and Josh Richards (we’ll never forget his Lil Huddy diss track)
Now, the UK has just now officially got its very first TikTok house, and it goes by the name of the Bytehouse!
Launched last week, the Bytehouse brings together six of Britain’s biggest TikTok stars, who have a combined reach of 15 million.
Like the other content creator houses, there’s plenty of pranks, dancing, comedy skits. romances and, of course, hard work. But, there are also some major differences, too. Here’s what you need to know about the Bytehouse!
Where is the Bytehouse?
Okay, so the Bytehouse is a little less ‘Bel Air mansion’ than the other TikTok houses we’ve seen. Located in London, it’s more of a low-key house situation — but it still looks hella fun to live there!
Who is the mastermind behind the Bytehouse?
Much like Hype House’s Thomas Petrou, Bytehouse was started by a savvy wunderkind in his 20s. The concept was masterminded by 25-year-old Timothy Armoo, founder of the talent and production agency Fanbytes. Timothy set up his first tech business at just 14 years old. Impressive, much!?
Who’s in the Bytehouse?
The Bytehouse is home to two couples and one pair of exes. Sounds scandalous, right? But it kinda works! So, firstly there’s uber cute gay couple, 17-year old Monty Keates (the youngest in the house) and Sebby Wood. Then, there’s slow-motion artist Jake Sweet and Shauni Kibby who are also a couple. Then, there’s KT Franklin and Lily-Rose, who used to go out. They’re totally a motley crew, and it’s a lot of fun to watch!
What happens in the Bytehouse?
What happens in the Bytehouse stays in the Bytehouse. Just kidding! It’s basically all day long for its 90 million viewers to see. According to The Guardian, a typical day in the house sees them waking up about 10am, then sketch out and film TikTok content until about 7pm before the house goes live to answer questions from fans. Um yeah, samesies. Not 🙁
How long will the Bytehouse last?
So, another difference between the Bytehouse and other content factories is that this one isn’t permanent. Well, not for now, anyway. The six moved into the house together in March (just before Coronavirus, although having them living in the house together has caused some controversy) and are set to live there for the next three months. However, Timothy is reportedly in talks with production houses to make a TV show about the house that would be like ‘Big Brother for Gen Y’. So, we might be about to see even more of them!
Our only question is — when is Australia going to get it’s first TikTok house, and where do we sign up!?
