It seems like it’s been 3,000 years since the 1D fan-fic After was announced to be made into a movie… and that’s because it has.
There has been controversy and about 20 cast changes since the announcement, but now, the official lead roles have been filled.
Hardin – who was an adaptation of Harry Style and literally shows no resemblance to him (we aren’t even talking physically) – has been cast as Hero Fiennes-Tiffin. Author Anna Todd announced the news on her Twitter just yesterday.
(Yes, the ‘Fiennes’ part does link him to Ralph Fiennes aka Voldemort from Harry Potter. He is Her’s uncle!)
She also announced who Tessa would be played by – Julia Goldani Telles.
We’re not sure what the official hold up of the film has been, but what we can assume is that it’s because of how much everyone hates the story.
While it has it’s fans, the majority of the 1D fandom have #cancelled After because of its controversial themes of domestic violence, abuse and even sexual assault. Add that to the fact that they’ve pinned those characteristics on our king Harry Styles, and it’s safe to say most fans won’t be giving the film time of day.
Even Daniel Sharman, who you may know from Teen Wolf, flicked the film after hearing about how hated it was. He was initially in the lead role to play Hardin.
But for those looking forward to the film, this is confirmation that it’s definitely happening! There has been no date set yet for its release.
