It might be hard to imagine anyone other than Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, but there were obviously other actresses going for the role.
One was Elizabeth Olsen!
Unfortunately, her audition didn’t really go too well.
In a recent interview with Vulture, Elizabeth revealed that she tried out for the HBO series nearly ten years ago, revealing that she had auditioned for “everything” when she first started out.
“I auditioned for Khaleesi,” Elizabeth said, adding: “It was the most awkward audition I’d ever had.”
Why so awkward? Elizabeth wasn’t sure whether or not she was meant to deliver her monologue in a British or American accent.
The scene was “[from] after she just burned,” Elizabeth explained. “And she’s making this speech to thousands of people about how she’s their queen. They didn’t know if they wanted a British accent or not. So, you did it in both. It was terrible. Anytime someone says, ‘bad audition story,’ that’s one I remember.”
LOL. Can you try picture Dany speaking in an American accent on the show?
