Cougar Town star Busy Phillips is due to release her much-anticipated memoir, This Will Only Hurt A Little, on October 16.
Ahead of the publication date, a story involving Busy and her Freaks and Geeks co-star James Franco has been leaked by Yahoo Entertainment.
According to Busy, the incident happened when the pair were filming a scene for the 1999 series in which Busy was directed to softly hit James in the chest when she said her line. Instead, James broke character and was physically aggressive with her.
“He grabbed both my arms and screamed in my face, ‘DON’T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN!’” she wrote. “And he threw me to the ground. Flat on my back. Wind knocked out of me.”
Busy and James played on-again-off-again couple Kim Kelly and Daniel Desario on the cult teen series, which only lasted one season before being cancelled.
Busy recounts that everyone on the set was horrified at James’ behaviour and she cried in front of her co-star Linda Cardellini following the incident. Linda advised Busy to call her manager.
According to the actress, James was a “f**king bully” on set and although he apologised the following day, he only did so because he was forced to by the producers and director and he faced no punishment for his behaviour.
This isn’t the first time that James’ behaviour has been called into question. In 2014, he came under fire for pursuing a 17-year-old girl online. Earlier this year, five women accused him of sexual misconduct but he denied the claims.
