Instagram has always maintained that bullying has NO place on their app, hence why the blocking tool exists. But unfortunately, trolls are still everywhere and something needs to be done to filter their nasty comments.
And guess what? Some just has been done!
“As part of Instagram’s continued commitment to creating a safer, kinder community, today Instagram has launched a new bullying comment filter as a next step in advancing its offensive comment filter tool, which automatically filters out toxic and divisive comments, particularly those aimed at at-risk groups,” reads a statement about the new tool.
The new bullying feature will:
- Automatically filters out bullying comments intended to harass or upset people in the Instagram community – this means users never have to see them
- Hides the comments containing attacks on a person’s appearance or character, as well as threats to a person’s wellbeing or health
- Alerts Instagram to repeated problems so the platform can take action
The social media platform will also be “expanding its policies to guard against bullying young public figures on the platform.”
In short: it’s gonna make it A LOT harder for the haters to be, well, haters.
