The students intended on spiking her water bottle with stolen chemicals but their plan was foiled when a teacher found the chemicals inside the locker of one of the girls.

Police investigated the incident but the victim chose not to press charges and the school handled the matter internally.

The details of the grisly plan were uncovered in a dossier on violence in public schools in Victoria, where it was revealed that 1500 other violent incidents had taken place in 2017.

These reported incidents included the involvement of weapons such as guns, knives, scissors, screwdrivers and even an axe being swung at a teacher.

The Victorian minister for education, James Merlino, said changes in the reporting of school incidents was the reason for the rise in statistics.
