Now, after 18 years of her family being apart on Thanksgiving, they have all reunited.
The singer took to her Instagram Stories to video how she spent the holiday, uploading a special selfie of herself with BOTH her parents which she captioned "first Thanksgiving with both of my parents in 18 years."
It's a big step for the Grandes', who have faced their struggles in the past. In Ariana's song 'thank u, next', she detailed some of what went wrong between her and her father.
"One day I'll walk down the aisle / Holding hands with my mama / I'll be thanking my dad / 'Cause she grew from the drama / Only wanna do it once, real bad / Gon' make that shit last / God forbid something happens / Least this song is a smash"
In 2014, the 26-year-old explained to Seventeen that she and her father had a strained relationship for a long time.
"It's private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be okay with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn't like that about myself. I had to accept that it's okay not to get along with somebody and still love them."
That being said, the singer has been making an effort to spend more time with her father. Last Christmas, they FaceTimed one another.
