Insiders close to the pair told TMZ that while the singers have decided to part ways, they "remain the closest of friends," AND Ariana posted the sweetest message to him saying she had all the love and respect in the world for him regardless of the split.
So was it all a lie?
Fans have now noticed that the pair have unfollowed each other on Instagram. To us, that's not a sign of him being one of Ariana's "best friends in the whole wide world."
Either the break up has turned nasty, or it's possible that the pair need some much needed space to deal with everything.
Whatever the case, we just hope they're both okay!
