Now that going out for pizza with bae or grabbing brunch with the squad aren't options, we'd be lying if we said getting food delivered wasn't the highlight of our week right now.
Nothing else quite matches the excitement of getting that little notification that your food is ON ITS WAY!
So, it's no surprise that the amount of food Aussies are ordering has absolutely gone through the roof in self-iso.
But, what are we ordering, exactly?
Does everyone else follow the same weekly rotation of Thai-Pizza-Burgers-Repeat? (No? Just me?)
Well, new food delivery data has given us a little peek into the most-ordered meal right now — and it is NOT what you'd expect!
"Surely, it's a succulent Chinese meal, or the classic Friday night pizza, right!?" you might be thinking.
Nope! According to Deliveroo, that honour goes to fish and chips! Searches for this beachy classic have gone up by a whopping 597%, shooting it straight to the top of the app most-searched meals.
It makes sense, really. Fish and chips is one of those meals you're never really going to make yourself at home. Plus, it reminds us of simpler times, when we were able to sit by the ocean with friends and tuck into some battered fish and greasy, chicken-salted chippies (silent tear)
It's overtaken burgers, which was previously the apps most in-demand meal.
It seems fish and chips isn't the only summertime staple we've been craving either (even though it's technically winter!) The Deliveroo data shows that ice-cream orders have also skyrocketed by 139%. Understandable, given there's nothing worse than having to venture out in the cold and buy icecream after dinner!
Another interesting insight is that we're all ordering dinner earlier than usual! The data show that while average orders on a weekday would usually peak at approximately 7.06pm, this has now moved earlier, to 6.23pm.
Let's be honest, we'd order our dinner at 4 pm if that was socially acceptable, so it's no surprise that we're tucking in earlier in lockdown.
