According to The Daily Mail, a source close to the Brit has claimed the 25-year-old ex-army man only applied for The Bachelorette when he heard his ex, Renee Barret, was going to appear on The Bachelor.
What's worse? According to the source, the whole 'petty ex' storyline was absolutely LAPPED UP by the producers.
"As soon as he found out she'd been cast on Matt's season and was about to start filming, he decided to get on The Bachelorette.
"Casting producers were aware of this and it definitely helped his cause. His friends are saying he mostly went on to get back at Renee."
According to the publication, Renee and Ciarran - who both live in the Northern Territory - split before they decided to apply for the reality TV show, but still, to potentially play with someone's emotions just to get back at an ex is an incredibly uncool thing to do.
Unveiling Ciarran on the official The Bachelorette Instagram page, the team wrote: "Meet Ciarran, this flirty, flamboyant and fabulously British 25-year-old is ready to put his heart on the line for our Angie."
We can only hope that's true.
Also set to join them is Angie's brother Brad, who will be going into the mansion pretending to be one of the guys.
Angie told 10 Daily, she was "so stoked" Brad was able to get involved with the process.
"He was, technically - what the boys thought - there to win my love," she said before adding, "Sounds so creepy when I say it out loud that my brother was there to date me."
While she was getting to know her suitors, Brad was getting an insider's look at the guys and what they were saying behind her back.
His true identity was later revealed by host Osher Gunsburg.
