How did your career as an actress come about?

My whole family are actors so I grew up surrounded by theatre and film. I always knew it was something I wanted to do. I got my first big job in the ABCME show Little Lunch, then a year and a half later I landed the role in Home And Away.

You’ve got a lot of fans on social media. What kind of message do you try to put out there?

I try to be real with my fans because actually I am a teenager and going through things just like everyone else. I want people to know that it’s important to be you and not try to be like anyone else; I try to show my true self in all of my posts. My posts aren’t calculated as such, more just how I’m feeling at the time. I love stupid pics as much as a nice selfie!

What advice do you have for girls who have a dream or goal they want to put into action?

Believe you can do it. Work out what you need to do and learn to get there. Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t happen straight away. I went for lots of auditions that I didn’t get before Home And Away.

Our campaign is about finding self-confidence, but we all have days where we feel low. Any advice for getting through those times?

It’s OK to feel down sometimes, make sure you’re talking to someone.  I often get upset about big and small things depending on the day, how I feel and how I look (or how I think I look). But I always talk to a friend or family about it and I don’t dwell. And all those ‘beautiful’ people on social media, they have bad days. We each have an amazing quality that is unique.

How do you think the next generation of girls can change the world?

I believe my generation will change the world by standing up for equal rights, respect and pay for women. And calling out things that couldn’t be discussed before. We knew these things but now we all need to act on it. We can do this now because of the strong women who have gone before and made an impact. And we will do it, like they did, by sharing stories and supporting each other.
