LUSH have created a cute-as-heck orangutan-shaped orange soap, which has a patchouli and orange fragrance that has been made with an extra virgin coconut oil base that’s sourced from Nias, an island off mainland Sumatra. And, this little baby costs only $16.95!
Every dollar from the soap (minus GST) will go to the SOS, in order to purchase Sumatran rainforests in order to conserve the land these lovely animals call home.
LUSH are hoping to raise awareness about how close orangutans are to extinction – there are only 14,600 of these great apes left in the wild of Sumatra.
So, LUSH have made and distributed 14,600 of these orange soaps across the Asia-Pacific region, with a total of 3,700 selling in Australia and New Zealand (2600 for Australia and 1100 for New Zealand) and just like the orangutans, once they’re gone, they’re gone!
In 2018, LUSH raised a whopping $225,000 for orangutans in Sumatra and this year they are aiming to raise another $250,000.
To help LUSH save these little baby angels, buy an Orangutan Soap from your local LUSH store or online – available for a limited time only.
