Now that news of The Princess Diaries 3 becoming officially a thing, fans are GAGGING for any new information regarding the movie.
They just need more of Queen Mia (Anne Hathaway), and can you blame them??? SO, here's everything we know so far about the third installment:
"There is a script for the third movie," Anne said on Watch What Happens Live. "I want to do it. Julie wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen. It's just we don't want to do it unless it's perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it. It's as important to us as it is to you and we don't want to deliver anything until it's ready, but we're working on it."
WHO IS IN THE CAST??
So there has been no production of the movie yet, meaning no real cast announcements have been made. However, there is rumour about a very special addition after this person shared their crazy audition story!
Christy Carlson Romano revealed to Buzzfeed recently that she was originally going to audition for The Princess Diaries, but she couldn't because she was working on Even Stevens.
Maybe the news of the third movie will inspire her to join the cast!
WHO'S COMING BACK?
A bunch of The Princess Diaries cast members have already revealed they would DEFINITELY return for the third film.
Both Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews are a definite YES, and that's VERY very important.
Mandy Moore even discussed to People about coming back as Lana. "I would like to see life have like kicked her down a few pegs. 'Cause she was the bully in school. I would like to see life sort of come full circle for her and maybe she is a little more humble. I'd be down."
In 2016, Chris Pine talked about returning as Nicholas when a fan asked him about it during Q&A. "Have you been reading my diary???" he replied.
IS THERE A PLOTLINE?
Debra Martin Chase (producer) has yet to give away any plot points for the third movie, and neither has anyone else. However, when the series writer Meg Cabot was asked by Entertainment Weekly, she said, "I am not allowed to say [what it's about]. I would love to sit and talk about [it], but I can’t. I’m not allowed."
Before his death, The Princess Diaries director Garry Marshall spoke to People about a possible idea. "I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do The Princess Diaries 3 in Manhattan."
We'll take it!
IS THERE A RELEASE DATE?
Unfortunately not. The film is currently still in its planning phase, so we can't know exactly when it will be ready for our hungry eyes.
However, we can hope that it'll MAYBE be this year???
We can dream.
