Yep, you read that correctly. Dame Julie Andrews is down to play Queen Clarisse Renaldi again... and that's pretty huge news considering she not only declined a cameo appearance in Mary Poppins Returns but hasn't physically featured in a film since her small part in the 2010 movie, Tooth Fairy.
Even before Hathaway confirmed a screenplay had been written, Meg Cabot— the author of the hit novel the films are based on— told Entertainment Weekly that after the film's director Garry Marshall died in 2016, they considered pursuing the third instalment in his honour.
She said the film would be "kind of as a tribute" to Marshall. “So, who knows? [It] could happen, as we say,” Cabot admitted.
But before you get your hopes up, Hathaway said filming will only go ahead if everyone is on board with what the film has in store for their characters.
