1. Honey & Lemon

“Honey and lemon are both ingredients that are commonly used in the kitchen and are essentials for the clear radiant skin,” says health and fitness blogger Tamika from @thenourishedbite. These superfoods contain antibacterial properties to treat adult acne and balance oily complexions.

Ingredients

  • ½ lemon
  • 1-2 tbsp of honey

Method

Mix together the juice of lemon and honey together in a bowl till combined. Apply all over the face avoiding your eyes. Let it soak in the skin for around 25 minutes or so then rinse off with lukewarm water. Pat dry with a towel and apply your favourite moisturiser to really hydrate your skin.

2. Oatmeal & avocado

This soothing oatmeal and avocado face mask is the perfect remedy for people with sensitive skin. Oatmeal boasts anti-inflammatory properties to reduce redness while avocado hydrates and helps reduce inflamed dry itchy skin.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup oatmeal
  • ½ ripe avocado

Method:

Cook oats as per packet instructions and allow to cool down. Mash avocado and add to the cooked oats. Mix well until it forms an even consistency. Apply to your skin and leave it on for around 10-15 minutes or until it dries. After, rinse it off with lukewarm water and dry your skin.

3. Banana & Yoghurt

Bananas contain potassium, and vitamins E and C, combine these anti-ageing ingredients with the good bacteria in yoghurt which helps to reduce fine lines and this mask is your passport to a younger complexion, sans any nasty chemicals.

Ingredients

  • ½ banana
  • 1-2 tbsp of plain yoghurt

Method:

Mash banana and add yoghurt. Mix well till combined. Spread evenly on the face and leave for around 20 minutes or until dry. Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat skin dry.
