But Sarah Hamilton, the latest guest on Girlfriend’s Beauty Boss podcast, is here to remind you that this doesn’t have to be the case.

Alongside her twin Emily, the inspiring businesswoman has started not one but two successful beauty businesses — subscription box Bellabox and best-selling botanical skincare company, Sand & Sky.

But while these thriving brands are known for their ‘cool girl’ aesthetic, Sarah is quick to point out that the pair aren’t always perfectly put together.

In fact, she confessed to hosts Jacqui and Alanah that she struggles with makeup just like the rest of us!

“I often say it shouldn’t be us, we shouldn’t be where we are because we’re not beauty aficionados,” she laughs.

“I remember one of the girls we worked with wanted to do my makeup for an interview or something like that, and she opened my makeup bag and was just dying, because I had broken palettes!”

However, Sarah believes that their pared-back approach to beauty has actually helped the success of their businesses.

“I think that it’s helped with Bella Box and Sand and Sky, because we’re really simple about what we want and we need that information quickly and we need results quickly,” she said.

“So it means we market our products with that same kind of push and we make our own products that fit the bill.”
