As a self-confessed water baby, actress Pia Miller spends a lot of time in the water and at the beach. So not surprisingly, she’s got her beach-bod beauty routine down pat, which is also why she’s the ambassador for Venus. “A healthy glow and radiant skin is the goal,” says Pia, “so my beauty routine starts in the shower with Venus ComfortGlide.”
Prep your pins
If you want fuzz-free legs this summer, like Pia says – a girl’s gotta prep! Shaving is a quick, easy and painless way to get rid of hair, so here’s the drill: before shaving, moisten your skin with water for a few minutes (this helps soften the hair, making it easier to cut). Use a razor with moisture bars so you don’t have to fuss around with shaving gels or creams. Our pick is Venus Comfort Glide as it’s got a built-in moisture bar with Shea butter, so you don’t need shaving creams. Take your time and use long, even strokes without applying too much pressure, and be extra gentle over ankles, shins and knees.
Glow up
We know – the golden (pun intended) rule is to always scrub before you tan. Prep your skin by exfoliating pre-tan – you can also combine it with a bath to really up the soft skin factor. Use a gradual tanner to give the illusion of a natural build-up (but without the risk of looking like an Oompa Loompa). Gradual tanners are seriously subtle and can be used as a replacement for your regular body moisturiser.
SPF yo’self!
Using SPF daily is a MUST – no ifs or buts. Luckily there are tons of tinted sunscreens on the market, so you can still give yourself a light glow while getting max protection. If yours isn’t a waterproof version, you’ll need to reapply every time you get out of the water.
Foolproof your makeup
It’s best to go minimal in this area, even if your crush-to- end-all-crushes is going to be there – a full face of makeup at the beach is a sure-fire recipe for panda eyes. Waterproof mascara is your secret weapon if you want the illusion of full lashes, but also want to live the mermaid life. For lips and cheeks, a cream or gel formula will stay put for ages and give you a seriously cute flush.
Hairway to heaven
Your biggest issues over summer are going to be knots and tangles, followed by chlorine and salt residue. If there’s a shower nearby, rinse hair as soon as you finish swimming. Then, use a detangling spray and comb through to free up tangles. Let your hair dry naturally and work with its own texture, or tie it up in a messy topknot or sleek side plait with a cute accessory if it gets too crazy.
Be body positive!
When you feel good on the inside it shows on the outside, and Pia proves it. “For me,” she says, “confidence starts with being healthy and happy.” So, follow her lead and look after your wellbeing by eating well, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep and looking after yourself. Do things that give you the happy feels, like spending quality time with your besties, or get some fresh air and exercise, and you’ll glow from within.
