Kim Kardashian’s bucked the blonde trend and dyed her hair red

Nope, it is not a wig.

It was only a matter of time, and now it’s happened. Kim Kardashian has joined the seemingly endless ranks of celebs who are taking on drastic hair changes during isolation. After her sister, Khloé Kardashian debuted a birthday blonde-to-brunette transformation, Kim has just revealed the latest work of her hair artist Chris Appleton, who has taken the signature dark brunette to a vibrant shade of cherry red.

As we’re still technically in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, no ‘stepping out’ occurred to show off the dye-job. Instead, fans caught the new fiery hue via social media. In one clip, Kim wore her hair pulled up into a messy bun, centre-parted with two pieces pulled out in the front. Idk about you, but we’re having intense primary school hairstyle flashbacks.

“You guys I dyed my hair red. Do you love it?” the KKW Beauty mogul asked as she zoomed for her closeup.

Originally, and like half the planet, Kim was also thinking of going blonde“My hair is gonna be so healthy after this quarantined time,” she captioned a throwback ‘gram of her platinum blonde hair. “Contemplating dyeing it blonde when we can have human interaction again.”

That social interaction is probably a long way off if the situation in the States continues how it is, but Kim’s new hair-do should have her feeling fiery and free (in spirit) for a while?

If you’re feeling tempted to go warm for winter, Vincent Nobile, Colour Director and Co-Owner at Headcase Hair, gave his expert advice to ELLE.

“To create this look, you’ll need the right cocktail of colour and gloss to add incredible shine. I also recommend warming up the eyebrows just a little, for a more harmonious look.”

Between Kim’s cherry hue and Dua Lipa’s strawberry red hair, it looks like the hair trend of the moment is taking its cue from the fruit aisle. Mixed berry smoothie while you wait for your bleach to process, anyone?
