James Charles doesn’t want anything to do with the recent drama featuring Shane Dawson, Tati Westbrook and Jeffree Star in the YouTube beauty community.
Last Sunday, the 21-year-old makeup mogul was waiting for a meal by a food truck when a paparazzi approached him and asked about Shane Dawson—who you would know, if you weren’t living under a rock in the last few weeks, has been accused of committing and normalising blackface, making several references to sex with a minor, “weaponising” Westbrook and orchestrating the Dramageddon feud, and allegedly pretending to masturbate to a poster of Willow Smith when she was 11 years old.
“Who knows… I’m just staying out of it, minding my own business,” he said. “I just bought a new house and have great friends around me.”
“I don’t want to talk about anything in relation to him… I think it should always be looked at on a case by case basis, and to make sure that people are changing actively that’s kinda what I’ve always believed in.”
When asked if he’s talked to him since “the whole thing happened,” Charles shook his head and refused to comment further.
“I don’t really want to address anything about the drama. I hope you don’t mind.”
