Not so long back we were all about the super fine arched eyebrow and no fashionable woman was seen without one.
They were carefully shaped and oh so elegant and then – just like that – everything changed.
Suddenly fashionable brows were thick and dare we say it, bushy.
Caterpillar brows were all the rage and if your natural brows weren’t thick enough you drew them in and fluffed them up as best you could.

But 2019 is well and truly here and we can’t help but wonder … what does the stylish brow look like now?
We weren’t entirely sure so we called on Benefit brow queen Hannah Mutze and asked her to give us the low-down. Or, brow down as it were. And this is what she said.
“The brow of 2019 is perfectly imperfect,” says Hannah.
“Think soft edges and subtle shape – this brow is the love child of an Olsen sister and Solange Knowles.
“This brow style embraces what your mama gave you and is quick and easy to style too.”

Hannah says actress Lucy Boynton is getting the look just right (that’s her up the top there) and that, with a teensy bit of effort, we can too.
All we need to do is apply a fibrous brow gel (Hannah likes Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow + Brow Volumising Fiber Gel, $42) on top of your brow powder. Next, back comb the brow gel for added texture. See – too easy!
If your brows aren’t quite up to the challenge and fall on the sparse or patchy side, Hannah recommends a regular tint. It will make brows look thicker and more full instantly, she says.
And even when tinted you can still apply brow products as per above.

Should you go to so much trouble? Damn straight you should. And Hannah explains why.
“Good brows are vital,” she says.
“Not only do they play a powerful role communicating our emotions they also hold the power to transform our look. Well shaped brows have a contouring effect on the face, accentuating our favourite features and making us appear more youthful and fresh faced!”.
