Makeup company Benefit Cosmetics have announced a voluntary recall on their Gimme Brow gel that was released in October.
However what they failed to mention in their recall was that it was contaminated by bacteria that holds antibiotic-resistant strains.
Releasing a statement on their website that read, “recent batches of the product did not meet our stringent quality standards,” the brand warned customers that using the gel could “lead to eye irritation.”
The recall was made after the FDA found that the gel was contaminated with pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is a bacteria that can cause a bunch of problems, such as a UTI (urinary tract infection), eye infections, ear infections and GI tract infections.
Ouch.
So, if you have bought their Gimme Brow product recently, throw it away and make sure any other makeup tool or product that has come into contact with it is also thrown away.
The FDA have also announced that any other Benefit product that contains the gel has also been recalled.
A restock date has yet to be announced by Benefit.
