If you have a sister, you may not be able to imagine agreeing on what to have for lunch, let alone major business decisions!
Or maybe you guys are besties and do absolutely everything together.
Either way, you’ve probably wondered what it would be like to start a business together.
It’s an area Sarah Hamilton is well-versed in, having started not one but two businesses with her twin, Emily!
The pair co-founded beauty subscription service Bellabox in 2011, and best-selling botanical skincare brand Sand & Sky in 2017.
On the latest episode of Girlfriend’s Beauty Boss podcast, Sarah opened up about what it’s really like to work with your sister.
“It definitely meets the stereotype,” she laughs. “So, think discussions that are quite heated and arguments over certain things.”
Sarah adds: “In the Bellabox days, there were times when we weren’t speaking to eachother and i feel like our early investors were like ‘wow, do we need to meditate between you guys?’”
But in their 8 years working together, the pair have learned to let the little things go.
“We’re both so driven and quite competitive that natural that happens, but it’s funny in that the more it happens the better you get at dealing with it,” she says.
“We’ve learned how to deal with our frustrations and it all comes down to wanting to do the right thing by each other and for the businesses.”
