With far fewer places to go and people to see, one of the main isolation beauty trends we’ve seen has been the dramatic hair transformation. Especially the celeb kind. From Emily Ratajkowski trading brunette for blonde to Hilary Duff’s blue moment, there’s been no shortage of new do’s being debuted on social media. If you’re lucky enough to be in a state that’s slowly coming out of lockdown and isolation, a haircut is probably somewhere on your list of things to do.
With that in mind, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite celebrity hair transformations to inspire your trip to the salon. PSA, we reckon most of these are best left for the professionals to provide.
Ariel Winter
After a very long stint on Modern Family, Ariel Winter is finally able to break free from her character’s black hair. After dabbling in strawberry blonde, she went for this icy, white blonde shade and pretty much looks like her own alter-ego.
Amandla Stenberg
A quick scroll through actress Amandla Stenberg’s IG feed reveals she is no stranger to the dramatic hair transformation. She’s dabbled with buzzcuts, braids, blowouts and a number of different dye jobs. We’re particularly big fans of the blue braids and how she followed it up with some short natural hair. Truly a girl who can do both.
Lana Condor
Our fav To All The Boys honey Lana Condor is known for Lara Jean’s signature long hair in the uber-popular Netflix film franchise. IRL, Lana went for a big chop and it actually has us itching to grab the scissors.
Demi Lovato
After beginning the year playing around with long hair, Demi Lovato is another celeb who’s making us long for a shorter length. We’re really into this shoulder-grazing length.
Ashley Benson
On the opposite end of the hair transformation spectrum, there are celebs like Ashley Benson. After a stint with a bright pink bob, the actress started experimenting with longer hair and a much more natural brunette shade. If you’ve grown out your hair in quarantine and are feeling more ~grown up~, maybe look to her sleek lengths for inspiration?
Sarah Hyland
While our fav Sarah Hyland is probably her with her incred natural hair texture, she did make the impressive case for wine-coloured hair back in May. If red hair isn’t your bag, definitely take note of the volume and fun layers she’s got going on.
Leighton Meester
After wearing her hair in a soft-brunette shade for a good long while, ex Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester’s dramatic hair transformation was a chop and going blonde. While the look didn’t last too long it was extremely cute.
Willow Smith
Multi-threat artist, musician and actress Willow Smith went about as hard you can go with her haircut, debuting a sleek shaved head back in March. BRB feeling around our skull to see if we could pull this off.
Justine Skye
The stunning 24-year-old actress and singer Justine Skye (who, yes, initially became famous via Tumblr) just showed off her short, naturally curly hair in a cinematic slow-mo video.
Lachlan Watson
No stranger to the dramatic hair transformation is Lachlan Watson. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (RIP sweet cancelled show) actor has bid farewell to their short brown hair and looks like a completely different person with blonde hair and bleached eyebrows. A huge serve, we absolutely love to see it.
