Right now, the site has raised 15,310 euro ($22,206 AUD), but its goal is 120k euro, (174k AUD). That is a lot of dollars.
But why are people kinda, sorta mad? Well it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Zayn has a lot of money... we mean, he is apparently worth $50 million USD.
He wrote on Twitter, "This is my Mums best friend. Please help in any way possible."
Fans had quite a bit to say...
But who's to say he didn't donate anyway?
Other fans quickly came to his defense.
Since the backlash, Ayesha has updated her GoFundMe page to also defend Zayn.
"I asked my 'nephew' Zayn Malik to drum up some publicity for me, by way of highlighting my page and illness via Twitter. This has had an adverse effect for him as the spiteful trolls are attacking him for his kindness. Never, ever would I ask him for financial help in any way, and I wouldn't want it any other way. My request was for him to enlighten the public of my sad plight and he did exactly as I asked. So come on all you trolls, give him a break please and let's just get on with the fundraising," she wrote.
It does seem funny that she wouldn't want Zayn's help when he has millions, but would accept from strangers who probably don't have a lot of money to spare, but hey, it's for a good cause.
