The sequel has been pushed back about half a year.
Nooo!!
On Monday, Gal Gadot tweeted the news, "Super excited to announce that, thanks to be changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!"
The Hollywood Reporter notes that it is the exact same time frame in which the first Wonder Woman movie was released in 2017.
"We had tremendous success releasing the first Wonder Woman film during the summer, so when we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the changing competitive landscape, we did," Warner Bros. exec Jeff Goldstein said in a statement on Monday. "This move lands the film exactly where it belongs."
While we don't want to release pushed back at all, there is a silver lining! By pushing it back, it creates some breathing room for another Warner Bros. DC Comics film Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix to be released on October 4, 2019.
