Like the witch trend.
While some of us find the thought of having a coven of friends totally awesome (especially with the rise of Sabrina The Teenage Witch and the reboot of Charmed on the horizon), real witches are having a hard time with it.
Especially after Sephora stocked their shelves with a $42 'starter witch kit'.
The kit includes tarot cards, sage, and a rose quartz crystal, and the witching community have found it to be an attack on their culture, even calling it a form of religious discrimination. One witch said it was "extremely disrespectful" while another said it made their "skin crawl".
"You’re supposed to be gifted your first tarot deck but ofc Sephora doesn’t know or care about that," said a witch on Twitter, pointing out that you can't just buy a deck.
"I hope people who buy this accidentally hex themselves," said another. Yikes.
"Lmfao witchcraft is a sacred and personal religion, not something to turn pastel and profit off of. If you wanna exploit my religion like this you better make tumblr aesthetic 'entry level kits' for all of the major world religions."
"Is this how Christians feel when people trivialize their religion and tell them their beliefs are wrong?" one witch said.
