This Is Why You Should NEVER Share A Razor

Ugh, gross. - by Dolly Doctor
  • 23 Jul 2021

Hand on heart, who here has ever borrowed someone else’s razor? If we’re being honest, most of us have done it at some point, right?

Right.

WATCH: Abbie Chatfield Hairy Legs.

We all know you’re not supposed to share razors but sometimes it just happens.

You’re running late for school, you haven’t shaved your legs in a week (or perhaps, two) and you forgot to ask Mum to buy a fresh set of razors on her way home from work.

Next thing you know, you’re in the shower and you’re reaching for your siblings/Dad's/Mum’s razor.

As tempting as it may be in times of desperation, dermatologist Whitney Bowe says you should never EVER share a razor with someone else.

Sharing a razor can spread disease.

"Shaving results in tiny nicks in the skin," Whitney explained.

"And those openings can allow bacteria to enter and spread infection."

Meaning you could be unknowingly spreading someone else’s bacteria.

"Not only that, but you're vulnerable to warts and bacterial and fungal infections.

If there's blood on the razor from a previous cut, it could result in transmitting blood viruses."

What can we take away from this? While borrowing a razor may just seem a little cheeky, it can actually lead to warts, bacterial and fungal infections.

The most hygienic choice is always best, which means refrain from sharing anything you put on your body.

That all sounds a hell of a lot worse than having hairy legs!
