The story at the time was that Liam Payne had fallen ill with food poisoning but considering the incident occurred just months after Zayn Malik, well, Zayn'd the band, people were V. suss.
Two years on, Liam has revealed the real reason why they were forced to cancel, and it wasn't food poisoning.
“I let it get to me that day. I wasn’t in a good place,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“And unfortunately I was going through a rough time and I let it get to me a little bit too much. That was it.”
Since the band's hiatus, Liam has been very open about his struggle with mental health.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, the father of one revealed he was secretly battling with his share of problems throughout the course of the band from mental health issues to struggles with addiction.
“[I] Got to 13 stone [about 180 pounds], just eating crap. I got fat jibes, and it affects your head,” he admits.
“I have nothing to hide about it. As I say, it was like a musical university. We were pretty reckless, but I got it out of my system. I had my fun.”
He went on to talk about the band's hiatus - a topic that has been at the forefront of our minds since the second they went on break, tbh.
“Even though I know fans are not mad about it, we needed it,” he says.
“We needed a little bit of time away from each other. We needed a realisation point to find the love for it again, rather than it just becoming a job. I’m a totally different person now to how I used to be about it.”
