“I was very depressed. When a family member gives you a second chance at life, and it fails, it almost feels like it’s your fault. It’s not. But it does,” Sarah said. “For a long time, I was contemplating suicide, because I didn’t want to fail my little brother like I failed my dad.”
Now, longtime friend Vanessa Hudgens has spoken up in support for Sarah, calling her "brave" for sharing her story.
“I’ve known Sarah for probably almost 10 years,” she told People. “I remember when she had her first transplant and I remember when her body was rejecting it, and I remember when she needed her second one.”
Vanessa continued, “I’m so proud of her for being brave and sharing her story with the world. It was a very emotional and taxing thing on her.”
“She’s just one of the strongest women I know.”
