We guarantee you’ll be feeling all the ~warm fuzzies~ after trying these tips.
Give all the compliments!
Ever had someone come up and compliment you out of the blue? It defs gives you all the feels for the rest of the day - so why not do the same for others? Aim to give three compliments a day for one week. Even something as simple as dishing the positivity to a girl wearing an a-mazing dress on the bus could totally make their day!
The power of post-its
Leave anonymous positive post-its with a funny message or corny joke for friends and strangers in a bunch of places – think a friend’s schoolbook, inside a magazine at a café, or inside a random locker at school. You never know who might pick it up and smile at the totally cute idea (even if they do face palm while reading, ‘What did Jay-Z call his girlfriend before they got married? Feyoncé!’ Well, we LOL’d…).
“Can I speak to the manager?”
We know people tend to ‘speak to the manager’ to express their frustration over bad service, but how often do you see people doing the same when someone does an awesome job? Taking just five mins out of your day to show your gratitude for someone’s on-point customer service is a great way to spread the good vibes!
Parental appreciation
While they can get on our nerves at times (especially when it comes to nagging about keeping your room tidy), it’s nice to show your ‘rents that you love and appreciate them once in awhile. This could be anything from making a card saying thanks to Dad for the time he took you and your buds to the movies for your 16th birthday, to putting aside one night a week to spend quality time with mum by cooking her dinner and watching her fave movie with her. It’s the thought that counts – and they’ll definitely appreciate your gesture!
Val’s for your pals!
Create a cute Val’s Day collage and frame it for each of your friends. Include cute or funny photos of you guys, along with a sweet personal message saying what you love about your buddy. Not only will your friends think you’re the sweetest, most lovely person ever (well, duh!) but creating something yourself is not only cheap, it’s also super thoughtful.
Mate Date
If you have a friend or two who’s alone for Feb 14th, organise a mate date! You could go to the movies and watch a chick flick (anything starring Zac Efron is ALWAYS a plus), or even just arrange to dress to the nines and have a picnic in your local park, complete with bite-sized snacks, dip and mocktails, of course!
