The storyline follows a girl called Ruby who wakes up on her 10th birthday, but something isn’t quite right. A mysterious disease has swept through America, killing most kids, but Ruby and a few others manage to escape with super powers. Sounds like a dream, right? Hmm, not exactly…
Armed with these new ‘powers’ Ruby gets sent to a place called Thurmond, a strict government-run ‘rehabilitation’ centre where she and the other kids like her have been sent.
Fast forward six years and Ruby escapes Thurmond to join others on their search for the only place that is safe for them – East River. But are they truly safe there?
Sci-fi/dystopian fans who lived for Maze Runner and Eleven’s storyline from Stranger Things will adore this read. Plus, the first book is being turned into a movie that has loads of your fave celebs, including Amandla Stenberg (who broke our hearts in The Hunger Games), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne from Game of Thrones), Mandy Moore and your next crush Patrick Gibson.
If you’re a pop culture fanatic, you need to get on board with this series.
