Fans of The Bachelorette US are currently in mourning as former contestant, Michael Nance has been found dead, PEOPLE confirms.
The Austin Police Department received an emergency call just after 2:00pm on Monday and rushed to the scene to find the 31-year-old unresponsive.
He was then taken to hospital where he sadly passed away.
A cause of death has not yet been announced as an autopsy is set to be performed shortly.
Nance appeared in season eight of the ABC reality series when he was 26-years-old and has later cited his appearance as the "best thing that ever happened" to him.
Nance admitted to having previously struggled with substance abuse in his Bachelorette audition tape.
“Right now, life is good, but I haven’t put as much focus on my love life because the way I was a couple years ago, no one would have wanted to be around me,” he said.
“I was addicted to prescription pain medicine. It all starts out fun and then somewhere along the road, it just turned into something else. It’s a vicious cycle and it ate away at me for a long time.”
“I’m almost two years sober, now, and it’s not that easy — you have to completely change your way of living,” he continued.
“But my life is really, really good today. … I’m happy and I’m content, but there are things missing in my life. I would like to fund my soulmate.”
Thoughts and prayers are with his family at this tragic time.
