When we consider every avenue that could be explored in The 100 - because there are A LOT of blanks - it makes sense that The CW has already ordered a backdoor pilot for a potential prequel series.
What's even more exciting? The first episode of the prequel is said to air as an episode of the final season of The 100.
We. Are. So. Psyched.
According to E! News, the prequel will be set 97 years before The 100, and will start with the first nuclear apocalypse that wipes out (almost) everyone on earth.
Instead of their focus being about the creation of the space station, the prequel will follow a band of survivors on the ground.
The pilot has already been written by The 100 showrunner and executive producer Jason Rothenberg, who took to Twitter to confirm the news.
As for what we can expect in season seven, Rothenberg to E! that a huge part of the story is going to focus on Diyoza's now-grown daughter, and the fact that Octavia disappeared back into the anomaly.
"There's lots of little clues that people can begin to sort of piece together where we may be taking the story in season seven."
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for 2020 until we get to see season seven and watch our first taste of the prequel.
