And they made it into the best announcement/poll of all time:
"Should we make another season of Stranger Things?" they queried first.
"FOR THE LOVE OF STEVE, DUH! So hold on tight baby darts - season 3 is officially happening," they finished.
UGH, best news ever.
No further details were given about when it will actually be released, but reports are that the season is still being written, so we're expecting a 2019 release? Hopefully we can get an October halloween release for 2018, but that's wishful thinking.
Co-creator Ross Duffer has previously stated that the show will probably last for four seasons, however the Duffer brothers and producer Shawn Levy have since suggested that it could even go beyond that!!!
"Hearts were heard breaking in Netflix headquarters when the brothers made four seasons sound like an official end, and I was suddenly getting phone calls from our actors' agents," Shawn said.
"The truth is we're definitely going four seasons and there's very much the possibility of a fifth. Beyond that, it becomes, I think, very unlikely."
Ross further explained that: "There's too much to deal with in one more season. If we're able to, there will be at least four, there could be more.
"I think there's going to come a point where, why aren't these people leaving Hawkins? Like, we're going to stretch credibility. It wasn't intended to be a seven-season thing."
Whatever direction the show goes in, and for however long, we're beyond excited for season 3.
