One of the problems with living in the future (aka Australia) is that everything happens during the night, which makes it bloody hard to get my beauty sleep.
At around 3am Australian time, Harry Styles denied the Louvre a new masterpiece by casually posting this Work of Art™ to his Instagram and Twitter accounts. He’s always been a man of the people.
Clearly an advocate for dental hygiene, this pic, taken by Harry’s photographer Hélène Marie Pambrun, surely has the man booked for Colgate’s next commercial quaking.
The only thing that sparkles more than Harry’s pearly whites, is his glorious glitter Gucci suit. I’m pretty sure this suit is the sole reason the Kira Kira app exists. I’m also certain that the Disney princesses’ group chat has been a snake habitat of jealousy ever since he posted it.
Harry wore the shit out of this glittery look™ for his Milan show on his sold out world tour a couple of days ago (you can’t half tell I’m proud AF). It’s breathtakingly beautiful and fans all around the world had a collective meltdown when – right on cue – Harry’s stylist, the divine Harry Lambert posted outfit details to his Instagram story.
BUT THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE THERE TO STOMP ON A KITTEN AND REMIND THE WORLD THAT (some) PEOPLE INHERENTLY SUCK.
A couple of fans started commenting and tweeting that they hate Harry’s current style and wish he would go back to wearing black skinny jeans and white tees like he did when he toured with One Direction.
I can’t say I agree but I guess everyone is entitled to have an opinion.
I’m firmly in the Team Harry Lambert camp. I’m pretty sure he knows because I slide into his DMs all the time to whisper love notes to him about how much I love his work as a stylist.
There’s no denying Harry Styles looks beautiful in jeans and a plain white tee. The guy used to look like a living doll in a lumpy purple sweater and the ugliest trainers ever made. But on the spectrum of basic to the best dressed man the world has ever seen, the OTRA wardrobe was as bland as a Wanted album.
If you think a white tee beats custom Gucci or exquisite Harris Reed, then you and I are never going to see eye to eye but we all like different things and that’s ok.
What’s not ok is the handful of nasties who wrote homophobic messages claiming that Harry Lambert was forcing Harry to dress like this because he had a ‘gay agenda’ he was pushing.
Reading that ensured I wasn’t going to get any sleep until I’d written this very story you’re reading right now.
These so-called fans said things like;
“It’s ugly womenswear foisted on a man who truly deserves better. FU @harry_lambert!”
“I hate Harry’s stylist for forcing him to look like a drag queens and a gay pirate. Why can’t he just wear normal clothes like when he was in 1D”
“Harry Lambert is turning Harry gay with those stupid outfits.”
Ok, you get the picture.
Aside from being bigoted and ignorant, their actual issue is that Harry dressed in gold and purple sparkles or ruffled flares and pussybows isn’t fulfilling their After fantasies. *long pause to go vomit*
I’m back.
No, wait. *vomits again*
Ok, I’m good now, fam.
I can’t believe I have to say this but Harry Lambert isn’t forcing Harry to dress the way he dresses. I mean… this is clearly the face of a man who’s feelin cute…
The difference in Harry’s style is so dramatic, you’ve gotta wonder why he wore such plain clothes back then.
I personally don’t wonder why. I’m pretty sure it’s because he thought, “Well if I can’t wear what I want I’ll just wear monochrome jeans and a tee.”
When faced with a rack filled with custom couture, Harry Styles could have at any time said ‘nah Sue this ain’t for me hook me up with some black jeans and white tees and call it a day.’
To insinuate that he’s being forced to dress the way he does by Harry Lambert makes me want to flip my desk. (I won’t because I’ll break my Harry-wrapped-in-a-towel official mug).
Harry has never looked better and I don’t just mean his style. I know I speak for a huge portion of the fandom when I say he’s never looked more confident and happy – and for us that’s ultimately what we care about. If he wanted to wear crocs with socks and a baby poo brown kaftan on stage we’d be cool with it.
He tells us to be whoever we want to be; the least the entire fandom could do is give him the same love back. And treat fashion genius Harry Lambert with kindness.
