Rihanna’s incredible lingerie line Savage X Fenty has been highly successful, mainly because of its diversity, and the fact that she has created sexy lingerie for plus size women.
However, its upcoming Valentine’s Day line has missed the mark, and fans aren’t too happy about it.
Alysse Dalessandro (@ReadyToStare on Twitter) tweeted about the brand’s recently new collection, drawing attention to the drastic design differences between the straight and plus size collections.
The tweet shows a comparison of the “Hearts” bralette for sizes S-XL and sizes 1X-3X. They’re obviously two completely different designs, as the plus size lacks the strappy detail.
“I understand construction cannot always be the same for plus size (especially in lingerie) but I know you can do strappy bralettes in plus,” she wrote, “so why do brands do this?” She included examples from other brands in the thread.
After the post, other Twitter users pointed out that there is a huge difference between the other plus size products on the site. They seem to save the ‘sexier’ designs for the sizes S-XL.
However, it should be noted that the two different Valentine’s Day bra’s are labelled differently on the site.
The one for the straight style is called “Hearts Half Cup Bralette” while the plus size one is a “Hearts Bralette.”
Savage X Fenty have made no comments on the matter.
